Firstmac has been operating since 1979 and is proudly Australia’s largest family owned lender. Marie is a family business operator at heart, and her aim is to continue to grow Firstmac for many years to come to have a business impact on customers, employees and the wider community.

With a small satellite team, Marie Mortimer launched loans.com.au in 2011 and in her role as Managing Director has since grown it to be one of the largest online lenders in Australia. She is also an Executive and the Chief Commercial Officer at Firstmac and is involved in all facets of the operational business, including Firstmac’s very important Third Party Broker network.

In 2021, Marie created the Women, Children and Community program for the Firstmac group, and it has seen been awarded for its contribution to causes that impact our community.

Prior to her time at loans.com.au, Marie has worked across Finance and IT in Australia and in the UK. She has a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Banking and Finance with a funds management extended major, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Property Economics, a Diploma of Financial Planning and she is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Marie is passionate about developing the FinTech industry in Australia, she is a director of FinTech Queensland, and is a proud Rise Up Academy Member, a global movement to increase diversity and the voice of women in financial services globally.

Marie is a board member for not-for-profit community housing provider, Mangrove Housing, which services the Logan and Redland area in Brisbane. When she isn’t at work, Marie loves to spend time with her husband and two young children.
