Marie Mortimer is the Managing Director of, one of Australia’s largest online lenders.

Marie launched in 2011 with the support of wholesale funder Firstmac. Since that time, she has grown it into a business with $6 billion worth of home loans and car loans under management. In the process, she has transformed Firstmac, giving it a major new channel with a direct to retail model. At the same time, Marie has been instrumental in changing the way Australians apply for home loans by moving them online and away from traditional bricks and mortar banks.

The success of has lead to substantial growth in Firstmac’s loan book, which recently reached $16 billion dollars, making it the 12th largest lender in Australia and the largest privately owned lender in Australia. Prior to her time at, Marie has worked across Finance and IT in Australia and in the UK. She has a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Banking and Finance with a funds management extended major, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Property Economics, a Diploma of Financial Planning and she is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Marie is passionate about developing the FinTech industry in Australia, she is both a director of FinTech Australia and FinTech Queensland, and is a proud Rise Up Academy Member, a global movement to increase diversity and the voice of women in financial services globally.

Marie is a board member for not-for-profit community housing provider, Mangrove Housing, which services the Logan and Redland area in Brisbane. When she isn’t at work, Marie loves to spend time with her husband and two young children.
